Conflict/Climax
The climax and rising point of this story are first when Mary's husband tells her the news, which we don't know what this news is, however many suspect that he'd cheated on
her. She leaves the room and gets a frozen lamb leg she kills him. She is in a little
bit of shock and goes to the store and tells the worker there that her husband didn't wanna go out, she had literally just killed him. She'd officially gone mental and psycho.
Literary Devices
Literary devices are pieces of figurative language. There is quite a bit of figurative language.
in 'The Lamb to the Slaughter.' One of the most ironic things that happen in this story is after
the police sit down for supper just after Mary killed her husband, she fed them the weapon,
the lamb leg. She also treated them to whiskey, and on the job with a drink, they won't think
very well, she knew that. Another ironic thing that happens is when she got home from the
grocery store when she saw his dead body once again, she acted surprised as if she knew
nothing about her husband's death; her doing.
